Clothing Designers Needed For Reality Show [Oct. 4th, 2006|12:17 pm]
This is a great opportunity for those just starting out!

OurPrisoner.com is a cutting edge internet reality show that broadcasts 24/7. Kieran Vogel has made history by being the first person to give total control of his life over to the Internet. Viewers get to vote on everything from what time he wakes up, what he eats, what he wears, what time he goes to bed and so forth.

It debuted on June 14th and has been incredibly popular. We've had major press with newspapers and radio stations all over the country, ABC's Good Morning America, CNN's Headline News, MSNBC'S Live and Direct With Rita Crosby, CBS, CN8, Current TV, London's Capital Radio... the list goes on. There is great international interest in this project. We have viewers from all over the world!

What we are looking for right now are fashion/clothing designers who are willing to design/contribute various clothing to Kieran to wear. You will get FULL CREDIT for your designs complete with a presentation on the show, link on the website, and numerous plugs. Again we have TONS of viewers from all over the world with a lot of ongoing publicity, this is your opportunity for amazing FREE PROMOTION of your product.

If interested, please contact the Associate Producer, Marilyn, with your name, what kind of fashion you do, and a link to any work you have done (or your resume). We are very open-minded as to what we're looking for, so even if you normally don't do mens-wear we'd still like to talk to you!

Dress Form Questions (xposted) [Sep. 7th, 2006|09:09 pm]

So as a birthday present to myself (it's not for almost a month but it can't hurt to shop now), I've decided to buy a dress form.
However, there are some things that cause me to be stuck on which one is the best investment.
1) Model
The Dritz My Double Deluxe got a mix of really good and really bad reviews on JoAnn.com, and the Singer 150 got a few that didn't really tell me anything one way or the other. The Dritz Twin Fit didn't have ANY reviews that I could find. Does anyone own one of these, and what kind of success have you had with it?
2) Size
The Dritz Twin Fit is the only form that this site offers in a Petite as well as a Small size. My own measurements (33 - 26 1/2 - 36) are at the bottom of the "small" range (as small as the form goes) and somewhere in the middle of the "petite" range. However, it's possible that in a few years I won't be so petite anymore, or that I will want to make clothes for people of other sizes and not necessarily want to pad the hell out of the form. (It's also possible that I'll lose another inch or so, and therefore need the Petite.) If I want Petite, the only one I can buy is the Twin Fit, and I'm OK with that.

So those if you who have more experience than I do - which form and which size do you recommend? I'd love some advice on this.

Visual Kei Event [Sep. 2nd, 2006|10:52 am]

[Current Location |Internet Cafe, Shinjuku, Tokyo]

Hi guys! Anyone interested in visual kei here? I`m working with a group here in Japan, to bring around 5-6 bands from Japan to california to perform. There will be contests and other things of the sort going on too. We will try to have vendors (not sure yet) so we may be able to bring over some shops based in Japan, or just bring the items over for them ^^. (Lolita fashions, visual kei, goth lolita, etc.)
If anyone is interested in attending let me know! And if you guys are interested in purchasing clothes from Japan, let me know what kinds of things you guys are looking for so we know what to try to bring over.
If theres enough interest, perhaps we may have a contest to even give away something like a complete dress outfit from (for example) Baby, The Stars Shine Bright (http://www.babyssb.co.jp/). If there`s no interest in it of course it is pointless ^^ so let me know!
We need event staff and people to help promote the project also so if you`re interested please e-mail me at dorami-nyan@hotmail.co.jp .
Right now we are looking to have the event held at Marriot hotel in santa clara, and another place in san diego but location has not been decided. When the venues contact me, and after we have held the meeting, I will post more information!
If I`m not supposed to post things like this here I apologize and please feel free to delete asap ^^;;.

Again, contact me at dorami-nyan@hotmail.co.jp if you`re interested or have any suggestions! Thanks for reading!!

1920s Wedding Dress [Jul. 22nd, 2006|12:51 am]

Hi, I was wondering if you guys could help me out with something; I apologize if this post is off-topic.

I'm a huge fan of 1920s fashion and desparately want to re-create this dress for a live action roleplaying event I am going to in October.
I found the picture via a website on 1920s bridal fashion and totally fell in love with it, since it has all the lovely drape-y qualities of '20s fashion without looking like a sack.

All I know is that it's Vilma Banky in a 1925 film called The Dark Angel. Supposedly she was also married in this dress after shooting the wedding scene for the film. I keep looking for any information about the film, but what always comes up is a 1935 film of the same name (and basically the same plot), with Merle Oberon in the female lead. Probably a good film but it doesn't help me here.

So, do any of you think you could provide:
1) More stills from the film?
2) Information on how to obtain a copy of the film?
3) Patterns or images of similar gowns, or any helpful suggestions on how to construct this?
It looks like a fairly simple piece, and with enough pictures I could probably draft my own pattern.

Thanks a lot! If I get this figured out I'll let you know how it goes.

Hello everyone

In two weeks I launch a website featuring various things including US and EU clothing stores. There aren’t many designs up at the moment but I was hoping that people here could give me some much needed feedback and advice about what’s there right now.
The new designs will be a wide range of things including some of my animated characters.

Could people tell me what they think of the designs that are there at the moment and what they think of the prices? All help would be greatly appreciated. I’d also like to know if people have heard of the company I’m using (spreadshirt) before? Since I don’t think it’s as well know as others I wondered if this would put people off.

From reading the rules I don’t think I’m treading on any toes by posting this but if I am please let me know. I’ve put the links here and beneath the cut are some pictures. The heart is the logo which is on some of the clothing, the shoe is one of the other designs I have up now and the girl is one of my characters who will make her debut in Epiosde two of my Richard Beeminster series( first FLASH cartoon can be seen here by entering the flash site)

All designs are my own at the moment but when I launch with a full range there will be designs from other independent artists whom I have paid to do them for me.

Hope this explains everything, questions very welcome!
